Top Selling Trades In 2016

2016 was another year where trade-paperback/graphic novels were dominated by Image Comics, and Saga in particular. Writer Brian K. Vaughan’s new series, Paper Girls also did VERY well, placing second in the number sold and fourth in the dollars sold. Another notable addition this year was Oni’s Rick & Morty. Volume 1 was the highest non-Image book sold and was sixth in dollars sold. At the $45 price tag, the Incal continues to ride it’s wave of popularity, second only to Saga Vol 6 in the number of dollars sold. Fantagraphics’ Patience by Dan Clowes did good numbers along with Matt Furies’s Boy’s Club collection. Marvel had some success with the first collection of Ta-Nehisi Coates‘ Black Panther run, and the original Civil War collection did respectable sales. Not on these charts, Tom King’s Sheriff of Babylon, Vision and Omega Men collections all did quite well and would have placed higher if they had been released earlier in the calendar year. DC’s collection sales were tepid throughout 2016, but that may change in 2017 with the release of the first Rebirth collections
